Notes: Checklist incomplete. The title translates as Screen Favourites. These cards were issued in small numbered folding booklets of 24 cards by The Sociedad Espanola de Libreria - a Spanish company that specializes in printing and distributing entertainment and cultural materials. The company is very much in existence today.
Cards were printed in three colors (brown, purple and blue). Booklets 1-3 are in brown, 4-6 are in blue, and 7-9 are in purple. The cards can often be found cut or torn from their original booklets thus making them anonymous once done so. Backs contain text in Spanish about each star.
The checklist lists the contents of complete booklets with a master listing of all single cards known as these are rarely seen intact as complete booklets. More than one pose exists for some stars - sometimes the same star can be found in different poses within the same booklet.
Date info: The back of the Magda Schneider card refers to the films Who Kissed Madeleine? and The Right to Love which were both released in 1939 and also mentions forthcoming films in the 1940-41 season which dates the cards to around then. I'm placing a 1940 date on this set, though it could be off by a year in either direction.
