Notes: Blank backed. Albums were issued for this set. The albums and some of the cards contain the title Die Schonheit im Wandel der Zeiten, which translates to Beauty through the Ages.
The cards were issued as follows:
Albums were issued. Identical looking albums with 200 cards in each, covering the series I & II, III & IV and V, V/A & VI. A final, different looking album with 100 cards was issued for series VII. Note: There are a lot of spelling mistakes in this series, well over 40! Only the first and the last series are relatively error-free. The final series has almost exclusively German and Austrian film stars. Another thing - the general size of the cards themselves varies greatly, as does the thickness of some cards. Different batches at different times, who knows why.
Collector Amit Benyovits makes a few comments on this set. Within the sets there is variation in paper stock as well as from set to set. Some sets have blank backs while others have writing on the back. What I found interesting is that A/V card #480 has a mirror image card in the V/A set..only difference is writing is on the right of the picture whereas in the V/A set it's on the left:) Serie VII is the only series with a printed back.
Date info: In Serie I, there is a card of the Estonian Beauty Queen for 1931, so that series was probably issued in around 1932 or later. In Serie V/A, there is a card from a late 1933 film, so that series was probably issued in about 1934. Collector Nick Bolton indicates that these cards were issued from 1931 through 1936 in different series.
