Issuing Company: Country of Issue: Germany Year of Issue: Color/B&W: Color Number of Cards in Set: Card Size: Issued as insert with what product: Bubble Gum |
Notes: Checklist incomplete. I've only seen one card from this set, so I don't have many details about this set. The card I've seen was supplied by Swedish collector Mikael Hoffsten, who indicates the card comes from Germany. Mikael says this is a set from the mid-1970s, but the card I've seen shows a scene from the 1956 John Wayne movie "The Searchers." This either indicates the set was issued much earlier in the 1950s or that the cards show scenes from old movies if the set was really issued in the 1970s. When I see more cards from this set, the date issues should become more clear.
These cards contain text on the backs in three different languages - German, English, and French. Each block of text contains the name of the film, followed by a brief plot summary related to the picture on the front. Interestingly, the one card I've seen from this set shows the film title as "The Black Falcon" in english. This film's real title was "The Searchers." I don't know at this time why it was called "The Black Falcon" on this card. The names of the movie stars are not identified on the cards, but their character names are used in the text writeups.
Wild-West Film: "The Black Falcon" (card shows Natalie Wood from the film "The Searchers")
