Notes: The great early director Fritz Lang created more than one tale about Dr. Mabuse, with the movies being released in the 1920s and 1930s. I believe this card set is based on the earlier film, which was issued in 1922. So this set was probably issued around that time, though maybe a year or two later.

Collector David Williams reports that these cards were issued at cinemas where the film was shown in England in Spring 1923. The film was released by Granger's Exclusives and was one of the first German films to be shown in Britain after the lifting of the post war embargo on German Films. Because of its length, it was released in two parts and played at cinemas Part One through Wednesday and Part Two Thursday through Saturday.
