Note: This set has the same design as the Godfrey Phillips Film Stars set, but the cards are different between the two sets.
Some interesting information has been provided by Richard Minns for this issue as follows:
Cards issued with gummed backs to be stuck onto the promotional sheet on the back of which is a chocolate advert. These may have been a British and overseas issue from the stamp on the sheet.
This seems to have been some sort of offer. The sheet I have has been officially stamped over the cards at the corners - presumably to show the offer has been claimed. Interestingly there are two missing cards which have been partially stamped over which suggests the sender didn't complete the set but still claimed and was given a prize. The stamp reads 'G. Berckemeyers & Co, S.A, Lima,' which suggests this set was issued in Peru.
In the September/October 1961 issue of "Notes and News" from the Cameric Cigarette Card Club, collector R. C. Evans briefly mentions this set and says it was issued in India.
Date info: Greg Graetz reports that he has been studying the backs with their references to movie titles, and the most recent one he has noted is on the back of the Jeanette MacDonald card, which mentions the film "Maytime," a 1937 release. So this set must have been issued in 1937 at earliest, and probably was issued in around 1937 or 1938.
