Notes: Blank-backed. An album was issued with this set. Several different versions of the album cover have been seen. The cards themselves do not mention Bruguera, but the album contains the Bruguera name. The cards do not contain numbers, but the album does contain a number for each card along with a writeup for the star.
Date info: Spanish sellers date this set at 1944, though I haven't seen that date printed in the album scans I've seen. Many of the writeups for the stars in the album contain dates. The latest date I have seen is a March 1944 date for Sonja Henie, as the album incorrectly said she died at that time, while she actually lived until 1969. Several recently deceased stars are in the set, with Leslie Howard's death of June 1943 noted, Carole Lombard and John Barrymore with their deaths in 1942 also noted. Based on the writeups, the 1944 issue date looks about right.
With World War II raging at the time this set was issued, very few card sets were issued in 1944 around the world. Spain was still issuing sets due to their neutrality during the war.
