Notes: No company name found anywhere on cards. These cards were issued by the British-American Tobacco Co. (BAT).
These are rare cards that are seldom seen. This set is a precursor to Cinema Stars Set 6. Probably because of its rarity, it is not listed in the World Index, but should have been placed before Set 6 in that book since the numbering indicates that set 6 was a continuation of this set.
Belgian collector Luc Moinil obtained a Mavrides album which contained 160 cards, including all the cards listed under BAT Set 5 (numbers 1-52), BAT Set 6a (numbers 53-104) and BAT Set 6 (numbers 105-156) plus an additional four duplicates. Luc's cards all had the anonymous "Cinema Stars" backs, even though they were found in a Mavrides album.
Many of the images are smaller versions of cards from series 7 whilst others appear to be coloured versions of cards from the BAT Beauties Series.
